Despite the clear fact that Mitch McConnell doesn’t have the warmest spot in his heart for our President, it seems like after months of speculation he’s finally willing to go to bat for him against the Democrats if push comes to shove, and boy did he show it!
Meeting with “Chuck and Nancy” today about keeping government open and working. Problem is they want illegal immigrants flooding into our Country unchecked, are weak on Crime and want to substantially RAISE Taxes. I don’t see a deal!

The entire ordeal unfolded around a scheduled meeting between President Trump and leading Democrats Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. The morning before that meeting, after our President posted the above tweet, the pair decided to abruptly cancel their appointment, drawing the ire of many on Capitol Hill. While the usual suspects let loose with their own vitriol, Sen. McConnell shocked everyone when he too got involved in the verbal fracas, laying down some harsh words for the Democrat duo.
“I never refused to go to a meeting that President Obama called, a bipartisan meeting. It never occurred to me that I could just say … ‘I’m not showing up,” McConnell said in a public statement. “That strikes me as a lack of seriousness about the matter before us, which is the funding of the federal government of the United States for the rest of this fiscal year.”
And he wasn’t done yet. He went on to say “you’ll have to ask them why they think it’s appropriate to refuse to meet with the president of the United States over something as significant as how we’re going to fund the troops and all the other needs that are addressed by the spending decisions we make every year.” That is a good question to ask, too. Can the Democrats really be so petty as to cancel a meeting over something as important as troop funding, all because of a tweet that they didn’t like? Well, it looks like the answer there is yes, and I guess I really shouldn’t be all that surprised now should I?
It’s nice to see that Sen. McConnell is finally starting to grow a backbone and is standing up to support our president. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come and maybe now, finally, Mitch and the rest of the establishment Republicans will get in line with the rest of their party!
Share this if you think Mitch and the rest of the establishment need to get in line with their base if they ever want to have any chance of success in the future and if you disapprove of Schumer and Pelosi’s childish decision to cancel their meeting with our President!
